Adoption and Foster Care

Adoption and Foster Care

While some people open their doors to welcome children in their homes, few others open their hearts to greet children as their own. Almost lakhs of children have been waiting for security and yearning for love only a parent can give. A safe and stable place is all it takes for a parent to stride forward and reach out to children in need with their arms open.

Adoption and Foster Care have been two such constructive and valuable endeavors that involve bringing a child into a home where parents consider them as their own and nurture them. However, both these trials differ a tad bit in terms of parenting and serving the child who’s brought in.

Foster Care in all sense allows the most vulnerable quota of children, like those who were abused, experienced trauma, neglected, and abandoned to find a shelter under transient custody of the state, while the biological parents are involved to become capable enough for the child to be returned to them as per his/her best interest.

However, many of the foster children extend back to their birth parents, some of them become available for adoption, which is either adopted by a relative or by the foster parents themselves. This significant commitment to becoming the most important person in the child’s life is something that will urge the child to believe in love and care that faded away from their life.

The temporary placement of children in foster homes in all likelihood tends to become their home forever if the parent is loving and nothing short of a keeper. Moreover, it is vital to know that Foster parents also receive an allotted stipend from the government for running essential expenses in raising the child until the child is reunited with its biological parents.

Adoption, on the other hand, comes along with a myriad of responsibilities involving the serious commitment of raising a child for life and making it a part of a family. This permanent right granted to a parent is like a blessing for them as well as to the children. While the child who most importantly longed for finding a mom and dad ultimately finds a home, parents who set their hearts on raising children become fortunate enough to bring a child home.

This two-way street of love and care remains intact with constant parenting where each adoptive parent assumes a legal right and is responsible for managing the expenses of the child, taking care of their medical health, education, and spiritual development.

Parenthood book of both Adoption and Foster care involves a colossal chunk of responsibilities and management where each child requires special care, observance, and attention. While the permanent love shared between a child and a parent is expected to remain unshaken, it becomes even more important to understand what the child needs.

Since both the pillars require undivided attention, each parent should take caregiver and parenting training if anything makes them budge from their decision. Therefore, both are two different worlds with one major act of kindness that can change your child’s life forever!
